[Features of Uji roasted tea]
1. The highest-quality "takara kaori" made using selected first-picked tea leaves
The first-picked sencha from Uji-tawara, a famous Uji tea production area, are used. It's made by roasting high-grade tea leaves which taste great even when brewing with a pot. You will like the great aroma and savory flavor. (As for miyako kaori, second-picked tea leaves are mainly used.)
2. A popular brand also used at the Ito Kyuemon cafe
At Uji's main teahouse, desserts featuring matcha are very popular. At this teahouse, "great takara kaori" is offered instead of water. It's been gaining a good reputation for its wonderful aroma.

This tea is favored by a lot of famous shrines and temples such as Manpukuji Temple, Uji Byoudouin Temple, Heian Shrine, etc. The rich flavor which has been improved over a long time and the skillful techniques of artisans will be handed down to the next generation with the elegant culture of Uji.

[How to brew tea]
①Boil water in a pot to 100ºC.
②Pour 150cc of hot water from the pot into a measuring cup.
*This is not only for measuring the water,​ but also allows it to cool.
③Gently pout in hot water from the cup into an empty teapot.
④Pour all of the hot water in the teapot into 2 tea cups.
*This is to cool water and to warm tea cups.
⑤Add 8g of tea leaves to emptied teapot.
⑥Add 150cc of hot water (90ºC) to tea leaves and quickly close lid.
⑦Leave for 30 seconds.
*At this time,​ be sure that you do not shake or turn the teapot.
⑧Pour hot water alternately into tea cups in 3 intervals.
⑨Be sure to serve every last drop and then serve.
*If some remains,​ the second brew will not be as delicious.
[Hint on how to brew properly]
It may seem that the amount for 2 people is too much. However,​ it is the amount required to create delicious tea. Put lots of tea leaves into the teapot.
[Prepare the following items]
*8g tea leaves
*Pot (a kettle is also OK)
*2 small cups
*Teapot (200cc capacity),​ measuring cup,​ clock (to measure time)

*Freshness is vital to tea. Consume as soon as possible after opening.
*Take proper care not to burn yourself with hot water.
●Storage Instructions:
*Avoid high temperatures,​ humidity and be careful of odor transfer.
*After opening,​ transfer to a can etc and store in the refrigerator.
