Japan's best rice, "Uonuma Koshihikari" & "Niigata Koshihikari"

Rice is a staple food in Japan and there are many kinds of cultivars grown. Among them, the one with the highest production volume is koshihikari. It is an extremely popular cultivar that has a moderately glutinous texture, characteristic sweetness and a balanced aroma. It is grown in various parts of Japan from Tohoku to Kyushu, but the koshihikari grown in Niigata has an especially renowned flavor. The reason for this is a set of conditions in Niigata which makes for delicious koshihikari. Niigata is one of the highest snowfall areas in Japan and the melting snow containing lots of minerals creates nutrient-rich soil. Also, the temperature difference between night and days is ideal for giving rice umami. Therefore, lots of koshihikari is produced in Niigata.

With an elegant aroma & soft yet firm stickiness - "Uonuma Koshihikari"

Koshihikari from Uonuma is considered to be the finest type of Japanese rice. Uonuma refers to the Uonuma region of Niigata Prefecture. Koshihikari harvested here always receives a "Special A" ranking in the "rice taste rankings" organized by the Japan Grain Inspection Association. With its refined aroma and soft yet firm stickiness, this rice has a delicious taste that you'll never tire of.

With an exquisite balance of umami, aroma & stickiness - "Niigata Koshihikari"

The cultivar of koshihikari is said to be the most suitable for the earth of Niigata. Therefore, Niigata koshihikari has become a popular brand of Japanese rice. It is more affordable than Uonuma koshihikari. However, with its exquisite balanced umami, aroma & stickiness, it constantly receives an "A" ranking in the "rice taste rankings" organized by the Japan Grain Inspection Association.
