Spring Fuji

Mt. Fuji in spring - one thinks of cherry blossoms. The viewing season is from the middle to end of April, slightly later than lowland areas.
As well as the most common cherry tree found in Japan, "Yoshino cherry", there are small-flowered "Fuji B sakura" and "shibazakura" that blooms on the ground like a pink carpet blossom around the foot of Mt. Fuji. This makes for a splendid scene where a still snow-capped Fuji and cherry blossom flowers compete with each other.
